Our volunteers play a crucial part in helping us, our hospital staff and patients.
Your time will make a real difference to people’s lives.
Our volunteers play a crucial part in helping us, our hospital staff and patients. We’re always looking to welcome volunteers to help across our three hospitals and to join our friendly and supportive team.
We have roles within our voluntary services team to help staff and to support patients and their families. Voluntary roles include gardening, befriending, assisting with administration, helping on reception/information desks, feeding and driving patients to and from their hospital appointments.
As well as helping the hospital, becoming a volunteer can be hugely rewarding; an opportunity to build friendships, confidence, alleviate loneliness and help with employability.
All applications are subject to interview, references, and a police check.
We have a wide range of volunteering roles within our charity team too…
Become a charity ambassador
Volunteering to become a charity ambassador is great way to support our charity with the added benefit of fitting into your everyday work and life.
Our ambassadors are generally confident (we can help you work on this!), enthusiastic, great with people and have a strong sense of community.
You will play a vital role in spreading the word about our charity; our aims, upcoming events, appeals and so much more. You might feel confident enough to speak to your or other local groups and organisations on charitable activity, it may be smaller and more intimate – whatever your strengths, we’d love you to jump onboard as an ambassador.
You or a loved one may have experienced care and treatment at one of our hospitals, you might work for the NHS, you might just want to give something back – whatever your reason, we want to hear from you.
Become an Event Volunteer
We’re always on the hunt for event volunteers; a brilliant way to get involved, soak in the atmosphere and be a part of a brilliant day – all without the need to commit on a weekly or monthly basis.
From helping with setting-up to marshalling, handing out medals, signing-in participants and being a friendly face to help, there’s absolutely something for everyone of any age and ability. Don’t worry, we’ll find the perfect fit for you!
If you’re a photographer, trained first-aider, or have something else you could offer to one of our events, we’d also love to hear from you.
If you have the time to support our hospitals, we’d love to hear from you to talk through your interests, our current opportunities, please email mse.msevolunteers@nhs.net
