Charity Ball raises over £15,000 for Southend Hospital Radiotherapy Appeal
More than 160 attendees helped raise £15,000 over the weekend for the Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal, thanks to a spectacular charity ball held at The Boundary, Garon Park. Many supporters of the Spotlight Appeal will be aware of how advancements in radiotherapy will benefit oncology patients throughout mid and south Essex.
Emma Wynne-Morgan, event organiser and Chairwoman of the Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation, said: “Over the past year and a half I’ve been amazed by how much our local hospital clearly means to our local community. We are incredibly grateful to our supporters, for consistently going above and beyond to support the patients and families of Southend Hospital.”
“The ball, our second for this appeal was a tremendous success, not only providing wonderful food and entertainment for our guests but, more importantly, raising an impressive sum for the Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal. Out grateful thanks to event sponsors Group 1 Automotive, Rickard Luckin and Adventure Island. We are now even closer to our £600,000 target, which will bring significant improvements to cancer patients across Essex.”
So far, Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation’s Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal has raised £495,000 of its £600,000 goal, which it looks on track to achieve by 2025. Appeal completion will enable Southend Hospital to acquire state-of-the-art Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) positioning devices, offering enhanced set-up and motion management during radiotherapy, eliminating the need for full-face shell masks and permanent tattoo markings, and, most importantly, ensuring greater precision in treatment delivery
Charity Director, Lucy Thomas-Clayton said: “Thank you to Emma for organising this special evening and the trustees of Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation for their continued support”.
