Our first Afternoon Tea for Broomfield’s Breast unit brings community together

On October 16th, our charity team was proud to host its very first afternoon tea in support of Broomfield Hospital’s Breast unit – part of our wider support for breast services across Basildon, Broomfield, and Southend Hospitals.
Held at the beautiful Little Channels venue, we welcomed guests for an afternoon of connection and great food – raising over £700 to support vital funds to help enhance patient care at Broomfield, one of the largest breast units in the UK.
Guests were joined by Jade Robinson, Breast care clinical nurse specialist from Broomfield Hospital. Jade shared insight into the unit’s work and the impact of community fundraising:
“It’s been wonderful to see so many people come together in support of our unit. Every day, we see patients who’ve been referred with breast health concerns – many times it’s nothing serious, but when it does turn out to be cancer, we’re there to support, guide, and care for them from diagnosis through to recovery. Events like this help us go even further – funding the comforts and extras that can make a big difference to our patients.”
One of our guests shared her own experience of the breast team, she said: “The breast team are just amazing. Even now, after surgery and treatment, they’re always at the end of the phone if I have any questions or concerns. I’ll always do what I can to support them.”
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, or helped make the afternoon such a success – and we look forward to hosting more events in support of the amazing teams at Broomfield and across the Trust.
