A message of thanks from Lucy, Director of Charities and Voluntary Services
As we near the end of 2023, I find this to be the perfect time to reflect on the past year and thank our community of supporters. It also allows the opportunity to look ahead to 2024 with optimism and encouragement as we hope for a year of health and happiness for all.
There’s no doubt that 2023 has been another successful year full of events, donations and the exciting launch of Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation’s Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal, I can proudly say that you, our supporters, have once again helped us to make some genuinely significant improvements to the care and lives of our patients, their families and, our staff.
From our dependable and invaluable volunteers to our fantastic fundraisers and generous donors; we have been both humbled and inspired to see the efforts you have gone to in 2023; we’re forever grateful for the overwhelming level of support that you have shown our hospitals. We’ve had families taking on our Walk for Wards, which raised over £12,000, Abseilers tackling Southend Hospital’s tower block to raise almost £36,000 and local groups and individuals hosting their own fabulous fundraisers – our community’s support is something we’ll never take for granted.
I will end by again thanking you all for your dedicated and loyal support and for making a difference to the lives of both staff and patients. The charity team and I would like to wish you and your loved ones the very best for a Happy New Year.
