Meet our fearless ‘Tackle the Tower’ staff abseilers!
On Saturday 16 May, dedicated staff from across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust will be joining other local supporters and stepping out of their comfort zones to take on our annual Tackle the Tower abseil – descending Southend Hospital’s 154ft tower block.
Each participant is raising funds for areas close to their hearts, supporting patients, families and colleagues across our Trust. We are so proud to celebrate their incredible commitment and courage – if you’d like to support one of our staff abseilers, you can donate via the links below.
Introducing our staff fundraisers
Fiona Ryan – Managing Director, Southend Hospital
Despite what her JustGiving profile photo might suggest (thank you AI!), Fiona has a genuine fear of heights and taking on the tower is a huge personal challenge. Fiona is aiming to raise £1,100 to provide additional equipment for Southend’s maternity department.
Ashley Davis – Charity Shop Coordinator
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Ashley will be abseiling alongside her colleagues Sue Neville (Leigh shop) and Paris Pritchard (Leigh and Hamlet Court Road shops). Together, they are supporting our Dandelion end-of-life appeal.

Kuldeep is raising funds to support staff wellbeing across all sites. This vital fund helps us go further in caring for our staff—providing support when they need it most and promoting long-term wellbeing.
