Charity-funded refurbishment transforms maternity ultrasound rooms at Basildon Hospital

We are proud to have funded the modernisation of three maternity ultrasound rooms at Basildon Hospital, thanks to a £15,000 grant from Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity. These spaces, which had remained largely unchanged since the 1960s, have now been completely transformed into modern, welcoming environments — offering a far more comfortable experience for both expectant parents and staff.

This vital refurbishment is just the beginning of wider improvements planned for the unit, and we’re delighted to have supported this important step forward.

Clair Grayston, Senior Charity Manager, said: “We were thrilled to be able to support such a much-needed project. These rooms play a central role in so many families’ maternity journeys, and giving them a fresh, calming feel will make a real difference to patients and staff alike.”

Inspired to do even more, Jennifer Baisden, Ultrasound Superintendent at Basildon Hospital, is taking on a personal challenge to climb Ben Nevis on 2nd July to raise additional funds for further enhancements.

Jennifer shared:The transformation has made such a difference for both our patients and our staff. There’s still more I’d love to achieve for the unit, which is why I’m taking on a personal challenge to climb Ben Nevis on 2nd July. I hope people will get behind the cause and support the next stage of improvements.”
